Playlist of the Apocalypse

Postby xander » Fri Jun 16, 2006 5:19 pm

So, about half-way down the page of this topic, the conversation veered onto what music would best accompany the nuclear armaggedon that we contemplate with each second of Defcon. I thought I might post that question in a more open manner -- what music do you feel would be most appropriate in an "End of the World" soundtrack?

My own picks (off the top of my head):
Beautiful World, sung by Louis Armstrong
R.E.M - End of the World as We Know It
"O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff
1812 Overture, by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky
Vera Lynn, We'll Meet Again
"In the Hall of the Mountain King" from Peer Gynt, by Edvard Grieg
Bôa - Duvet

Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow

:)
(probably because ive been listening to rhcp a lot in the last days, but i like how the show and the heavy glowing light apply to nucular explosions)

So far everyone's suggested nearly everything that I would put on my list.

There's a track in 28 Days Later which I love, and would definitely include on my list. I don't remember what the real name of the song is, though. (I would include most of the above too.)

Edit: In The House - In A Heartbeat. There we go. :)
Here is my signature. Make of it what you will.
