Durham university Darwinia gaming society

Postby origin of species » Tue Nov 02, 2004 12:39 am

Hi

A complete stab in the dark...

Is there anyone out there in Durham Uni interested in forming a Darwinia gaming society. I've got a few mates interested.

PM me if you're interested.

Keep up the good work guys.

Speak to my ex up there. She's a second year there now methinks. Although I doubt she'll join, she hates games...I spose that kinda nullifies the point of this post, eh?

Yeah I can't see a society being formed. You need a certain number of members. Its not going to happen.

She doesn't like games. But she's doing astronomy - she's good at it too. Can't remember where she is now, we're not really in contact that much any more.

Anyway, since people are trying to find Darwinia fans in their area. I'm from Dorset, who else is?

I'm in NYC. I'm living in Brooklyn (East Williamsburg) while I'm in graduate school at Columbia. :)

Durham Uni ftw! Independant UK developers ftw! UK gamers ftw!

Mildertian casually browsing the Darwinia forums to see if I can find out what system specs Darwinia runs on happens upon Durham Darwinia gaming society??!!

If I had Darwinia I'd be happy to join up for a game. If I knew what system specs I'd be happy to buy it after being wowed by the demo. I need to know if I can play it before or after I upgrade from a GeForce 2 to a Radeon X800GTO.

IIRC you need something like 20 members for a society, and you might fnid it difficult to convince them of funding. Alas, we'd be talking next term, but I could definitely see myself going for some Darwinia. In the mean time get yourself a copy of sharescan from tucows.com and I'll send you the IP list for the Uni network. There you'll find what's needed for some Unreal Tourney / Warcraft III / Quake III multiplayer. It'd be Natural Selection too if I could only get Steam working...

P.S. Gumbo, my bro's just started Computer Games Art at Teesside this year, maybe you know him? (Nic)

P.P.S. I don't suppose any of you code in C++? Or model with Maya, Max or XSI? It's probably a long shot, but look where this thread ended up!
