Banning / quitting smoking

Postby Hiryuu » Wed Jun 23, 2004 1:10 pm

I haven't touched the evil weed since 9am on Monday - so it's been... 52 hours now, and I'm not feeling too bad. Was a bit on edge yesterday but not really feeling a desperate need to have a fag.... has anyone else here quit, and if so, got any tips to stay off the damn things? Just in case and all. Oh, and a little something for the UK peeps in the form of a poll:

What do you mean? Ban smoking in the streets as well? Or just in places like restaurants and shops and such?

And what would it mean if I voted Monkey?

I smoke, but I did quit a while ago. Then I started again. I was clean for about 6 months. It helped me to "shift the addiction". I drank crapload of coffee every time I wanted to smoke. For me it was easier to get rid of the caffiene addiction than the nicotene. Otherwise, just bite the inside of your mouth until you bleed. Have you ever felt the badness of smoking with an oral wound? Hectic!

Think I'll go outside to have a puff now.

Ra! Ra!

The monkey vote means you want a giant space monkey to destroy the Earth, this settling the issue once and for all.

Umm... I have smoked when my mouth's been cut to hell, it's not nice. I'm not gonna be a zealous anti-smoker - it'd just be nice to have more cash, that's the real reason I'm doing it. To hell with health benefits

P.S. This post is NOT to up my rank in any way. I'm against that sorta crap. This is all merely in good fun and good advice. If at all posible, don't make this specific post count towards my rank.

Subjectively, girls who smoke are considerably less desireable.
Unfortunately, many of them do.
Why is still beyond me - anyone want to suggest some solutions?

Maybe they're going for the Hepburn effect. Trying to look sophisticated. Women are strange things, I need detailed PCB diagrams to make a decent analysis. But they are rare.

But the ones in question look sophisticated anyway!
You never see them smoke, in public, although it is widely known many of them do.
Ie, they go elsewhere, smoke and come back. So what's the point?

That would seem to suggest that they don't want to be seen indulging in a bad habit... oh hell, I don't know. Maybe they're just sociopathic. And I see loads of female smokers in public although, admittedly, some try to be discreet.

I hate smoking in public places INCLUDING the street. When you are walking along/sitting in a cafe/sitting on a train and you are having to breath other peoples smoke in, it is awful. BAN IT.

I find it interesting that no-one at all has voted No and three people have voted Monkey. Both my parents are smokers and have been since ever, as a result I've gone one hecka cough I can't shift. I guess I just have to get over it.

@Flamekebab - A lot of girls smoke because they think it keeps them skinny...personally I don't find girls who smoke less desirable...they just taste foul :? ...why can't they be like us guys and discover the wonders of Wrigleys 8)

@Hiryuu - as for not smoking the "evil weed", ever try the "holy herb"?
