Translation help wanted, French Italian German and Spanish

Postby John » Thu Oct 23, 2008 1:08 pm

We need some help updating our translations to keep up with the changes from the patches that we're developing.

If you would like to contribute, your help would be much appreciated.

We need people with French, Italian, German or Spanish language ability.

Thanks

John

/me takes German.

Do you have any tools that help us find untranslated strings? If not, the Armagetron language files seem to use the same type of format, I'll try to adapt the little python prgoram doing that job there.

Thanks Bert. Yes, we've got a nice tool that will produce a report on what strings to translate.

It's been a while since I've done some spanish speaking, but I'll do it for you lot. If one of you staff members have MSN, feel free to PM it to me, or yahoo/aim/skype.

I'm a native French speaker, and I'm studying in a translation school (2nd year), so I would be glad to help you a bit with the translation !

However I've got a lot of work to do in this period, so I might not translate very quickly (i have no clue about how much there is to translate)...

But I'll definitely help you ! A few years ago, I wanted to translate Uplink into French, but there wasn't any tool for an easy translation then...

My German is so poor that I doubt I'd be much good, but I'd be more than willing to use Google Translate for any of those languages!

If you need more than one person per language, I can help with French. I'm a native speaker and have a bit of free time at the moment.

Google translation is a real plague... If you want a nice translation, just forget it ^^

Me too, but only because I'm extremely bored. (I can't translate to anything but English :P and Hebrew, which not only sucks, but it's right-to-left so that'd make it more complicated.)
Just make it public. Not much harm can come of it... I think...

I've been off this forum for a while but now I have more time to help. I've been translating every game since Darwinia so I'll help with the Spanish version of this game. Where should I upload the file when I finish it?

Doesn't mean they won't take the translation if you do one. ;)
