This should probably be in the dev forum, but since no one wants to give me access (yes I did buy the source) I'll just put this here. This is my new hobby programming project (since doing theoretical work doesn't do much for my sanity): porting Uplink to the Android platform. Below is my first demo of what I have done so far:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y8PX1aYq50 (don't know how the whole embedding thing works - don't really use forums)
Now a couple of things:
1) It's not a proper Android implementation. It's an instance of android-x86 (http://www.android-x86.org/) running on VirtualBox because the Android emulator is way too slow. I don't own an Android device at present, but hoping to pick up one of these Asus eee Pad Transformers when I visit the USA in June.
2) Because of 1, the sound doesn't work. The music was added to the movie afterwards.
3) I'm not worrying too much about the text and button sizes or the layout now. I'll tune those when I get a proper platform to test on.
4) The main game screen is only a mock-up at this point.
5) No, I can't give this to you since the distribution rights are owned by with Introversion Software.
I'll update as I move on, but don't expect too much in the immediate future. I have to prepare for the previously mentioned trip (see above).
And in before anyone else: this is probably vapourware

Cool!
Oh, here's the video you linked to all embedded up:
It's just
(this may not work in all forums)

A tablet port of Uplink.. I really like this idea.
The iOS SDK would not be flexible enough to allow a port - I'm all for an Android implementation. However just 'porting' aside, there would be a lot of UI constraints. I've had fun with Uplink on my Thinkpad X61 tablet.. and the only thing it's missing is an OSK.
Very interested in where this is going.

On BlackBerry Playbook 'Android runtime' too?
Great news to hear this will be coming out for Android Tablets.
Don't laugh at my choice of tablet, but will there be any consideration as to getting this working on the BlackBerry PlayBook's Android runtime environment too? Day #1 purchase from me if you do.
