Increasing performance on Linux?

Postby mewshi » Thu Sep 04, 2008 9:12 pm

Hello everyone!
Just bought the three-pack, and I'm enjoying it, except for the fact that Uplink runs doggedly slow on my linux machine, whereas it ran better on windows. Can someone help me out?

Graphic related probably,

Give your computer stats?

What is the exact _driver_ you have installed for your video card? (Have you tried the binary driver provided by your card manufacturer?)

It shouldn't be graphics, since darwinia and defcon run dandy for me, but anyway:
ATI Radeon XPress 200M
AMD Turion 64 ML-37
1GB RAM

Yes, I'm using the latest ATI driver. I'm amazed at the quick response. o.o

Probably some luck there ;)

As for your problem, it's indeed strange that other IV games run well except Uplink.

Uplink should be much less demanding then other IV games.

Perhaps try to move/rename all the .so in the /lib/ subdirectory?

(I guess you could also try the latest patch but I doubt it would fix your issue)
