illegal selling
Hey all, I just purchased the game off of ebay and the user said they would ship the item... I even paid shipping and handling. The guy emailed me with a link to www.uploading.com , with a password to download the game. He claims to be one of the guys that produced the game and that Introversion is ok with him selling it like this... Anyone out there got any ideas???

At this point they are not. The SF version does not work with the latest patches at all, so they can be considered different versions of the same game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those are torrents.
It is a lot harder to take legal action - mostly because no-one is making any money off of Uplink directly through torrents, but also because it is very, very hard to get rid of torrents.
What you have done, however, is provide users with a list of where to download Uplink illegally - then again, most people know where and how to get torrents these days.

But how could they ever be able to sell the games if you didn't distribute liscences/game packages to them as re-sellers?
Third edit: actually, still confused.
IV signed a contract with Strategy First. The terms of this contract where probably along the lines of "Strategy First will sell Uplink, and pay IV royalties." Strategy First stopped paying IV, but continue to sell the game. Thus, they are in breach of their contract, and any copies of Uplink: HE that they sell are being sold illegally. Does that help?

No as that's old news, as old as it can be since my post is no older than two hours.
Besides, you have to have some understand to my and probably many peoples confusion here.
First of all, most of us noticed Hacker Elite through Steam (Probably). By then already owned by Introversion.
Secondly, that SF even attempted a thing like this is beyond any common sense as they would PFAIL in court completely.
The thing was really about as someone wrote earlier that they had filed bancrupcy and then somehow come out of it or something.
Third and final, stop ridiculing here for posting the question in the thread according to you appropriate and then ridiculing me in the second thread for allegedly not readin this one.
All in all, this thread was never even meant to discuss the backstory in question but for the community to provide links for illegal sales of the item and as such nobody should be expected to read through this thread except those wishing to recive the links in question.
Now enough of this crap, have a good day.

No, Ambrosia is the Macintosh distributer. If you take them down, I'm gonna have to hurt someone (just kidding)... But seriously, they distribute mac games; it seems to me that all these websites are distributing the windows version.

you paid shipping and handling for an email? Sounds like you've been gipped.
You responded to something posted over 9 months ago. Seems like you need to learn to read dates. It's obvious what happened to him.
