So I made a mediocre hacking game, too.
Unlike most hacking games (that aren't called Uplink), it's not bad, too unrealistic or trying to be 'badass'. Also, it's more adventure-riffic and features a whooping three LAN systems. AND it gives credit to Uplink for the graphics I took from it and made paintovers off.

Stealing others work and then not giving them credit is a bad thing to do, and can lead to such things as lawsuits.

As I understand it, copyright law requires that you do more than just give credit to the original copyright owners. It requires that you get their permission.
I don't think Jick's likely to be a jackass about the use of his KOL graphics, especially if you're not making any money off of them, but permission should be asked nonetheless.
Though I'm sure that he'll find the usage flattering, I do, as an active member of the KOL community, have to notify him of it's use.
If you're a current KOL member, you can talk to him yourself. His USERID is 1, and his username is Jick.
