Though I can't comment on how the guy plays, backstabbing is a legitimate tactic.

Seconded. I played a game allied with him until he backstabbed me. Then he proceeded to talk crap about me being last place. Well, I launched on Russia and him and moved up to 2nd place -- just above him. That showed him.

Yep, I also had fun. Especially since I won that diplomacy game (as NA). It could easily have turned out differently, though, because WildBill (Russia) really wanted to align the eastern hemisphere against the Americas.

Poor ROFLamingo (Africa) got booted from the alliance at the beginning. I'm willing to bet he would have won otherwise.

Maybe he just backstabbed you and it didn't work out? I still think he's great! I've played some really tough matches with and against him.
