Avoid paying a fine?

Postby Chishi » Mon Dec 11, 2006 2:05 am

Ok, so i got busted recently and had to start over (again, bad habit of mine)... Got a mission to a file server that traced a bit faster than most, and now one of these damn companies wants me to cough up 1000 credits, I know that it is next to nothing, but I love being an evil bastard cheapass... Is there any way to avoid paying this measly 1000 credits, without being thrown in jail?

(global criminal database hack? Or can I just delete all the logs on the server that caught me?)

I'm just not sure if deleting my record, or removing all the evidence the corporation has, is enough in this game :P

Once you are caught, deleting the logs is useless.

I guess you could pay the fee, reply to the mission, and then hack the bank to get your money back plus some extra.

What frenchfrog said is really the way to go not paying fines is a great way to get disavowed in a hurry... I dont think gateway nuke would stop that...

--though it may, I have never tried it...--

It IS just easyier to hack the bank.

Seriously, once you successfully bank hack, any money you lost in the past through fines is negligible. Just deal with it, do a couple of extra missions. Also, it can be a good idea to get the gateway with the radio transmitter - you can build up your funds while worrying less about being traced and disavowed.

It doesn't work? Heh. I never got caught when I used it, so I suppose I assumed that it worked.

The radio transmitter gateway's feature was disabled years ago.
I *think* it was patch 1.2.

I couldn't find a mention of it in the changelog so I think it is still broken.

I also *think* it was broken by the 1.2 patch.

It's not "broken". They deliberately disabled it to prevent invulnerability. They are yet to remove that from the gateway description, though.

Ah, ok. I thought since it wasn't mentioned in the changlogs as being disabled then it wasn't intentionally done.

And there you have it...

I know that has been covered before, but I had to know what that one was talking about his never failing...
