Uplink 2!!!oneone... just kidding. Actually, for boardies..

Postby phyreskull » Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:14 pm

Er. Yeah. Sorry about that. Getting quirky in my old age. Either that or a cheap trick to get people to read the post. Anyway, on to what I meant to talk about:

Wouldn't it be great to have keyboard shortcuts for things in Uplink? Coming from someone whose windowmanager (until recently) had little use for the mouse, it could be great for the more keyboard-oriented people. Anyone feel like coding it in? Maybe an extra to the long-honoured FBI mod?

Definitely something to include in any Uplink 2 or Uplink Online client.

Really? Can you give me examples of what shortcuts you'd like? It's not something I've ever really used or missed... If you think they'd be worth having though, I'll look at coding them though.

As a related note, you mention adding them to the FBI mod. Is the code available then?

I'll have to think about that in more detail but I'll get back to you on that :)

Not as far as I know, but I was aiming that at the FBI mod developers (the names of which have slipped my mind at the moment, but I'm tempted to point the finger at neott)

Copy and paste functions would be very useful, but they're not particularly easy to implement. I'm fairly familiar with the uplink code, but I haven't got round the ins and outs of the eclipse library, and I don't know that much about OpenGL. Binding keys to functions (like the enter and escape keys at the moment) would be fairly straight forward, but as far as I remember you can't even highlight text in uplink.

The tabbing thing's already there, isn't it? At least for fields, anyway. For the buttons you can use enter and escape usually.

Those ideas would be amazing. Although I think it would get too boring wiht hackers hacking each other constantly, since once someone as hacked you once, they'll keep coming back before you can get better defences.

There will be no uplink 2. This was confirmed by Introversion in March 2005.

Auto-Jumping.... gets so tedious clicking on all those links. Maybe have a preset to a certain extent to cut down on the one's you always connect to first...

Auto-jumping is NOT needed if you have the new patch. I already explain that here

Then the forum titled "The Future" has no real use I guess
I always wondered..If there wasn't gonna be a Uplink 2
Why put a entire forum just for the "Future"?

For future additions to the game, for example, LANs weren't originally in the game.
