After revelation

Postby 01mareva » Sat Feb 26, 2005 12:05 pm

I've stopped revealtion and I've heard that you have to nuke your gateway sometime later. I'm rather attached to my very best possible gateway with 8 200Ghz processors so I destroyed the arunmor Internal services and mainframe (its them who mess with your gateway isn't it?). Will I still have to nuke my gateway at some point?

You don't have to nuke your gateway. You stopped Revelation, so you're a hero. Sort of.

If you'd been playing the other side of the story and trying to spread Revelation to destroy the internet, then you'd be heading for crap.

Based upon personal experience, YES. Although a developer would know for sure since they have the sources and can tell if someone from Arunmor is looking to force you to nuke your rig.

Remember the mission where Arunmor sends you a copy of Revelation and asks you to use it on their ISM to frame ARC's leader? That's what Arunmor wants to see destroyed.

You shouldn't have to - I never have but if you are worried then you can use a motion sensor so you know if anyone is close to your gateway

Well I had to nuke my gateway but I'd backed up all the expensive shit onto fileservers (arunmor file servers with my copies of revelation and all the expensive LAN stuff)

You might have to nuke your gateway. To make the mission easier you should destroy the ARC Central Mainframe (to stop the outbreaks). To destroy a system, access the console and write: cd usr, delete, cd log, delete, cd sys, delete, shutdown. After you stop Revelation, most of those systems that you hacked to run Faith will begin passive traces, so you might (I repeat: might) need to nuke your gateway. Or, you can bounce every connection starting with Internic. After every hack, go to Internic, hack the password, or enter it if you know it (doesn´t change). And delete the logs with the Log_Deleter v4.0. You don´t have to destroy Arunmor´s systems (you´re working for them you chicken brain)!!!

And your gateway IS NOT the best possible gateway. Some guy made a custom gateway with these specs: 50 processor slots, 10 GQ bandwidth, 2 Security slots, and 256 GQ of memory (as far as I remember it was 256).
Guess what: You now nothing of Uplink! (chicken brain)

There was no need to double post nor to dig up an old topic.

But if you nuke your gateway, don't you have to start from the beginning again? Because I remember when I infected my gateway with relavation, (I wanted to see what would happen, I swear) I got to rent a gateway but had to buy all the stuff back.

From time to time, upload all your software to a file server, so that when you have nuked your gateway you can just download it all of from that again.

So I guess just any server will do? It's not like anyone will steal it because there is only one player anyways.
