Uplink LAN Creator

Postby phyreskull » Wed Nov 23, 2005 1:01 am

Hey all,

I've decided to make one of my periodic reappearances here - to remind you all that you do miss me, deep down. Somewhere. For some reason. How've things been in the past few years?

Met the IV team earlier this (calendar) year when they came to my uni (and their ex-uni... go Imperial!) to give an amazing presentation.

... and that's been the highlight of my Uplink/Darwinia life. Anyway, on with the interrogation: Should I revive and re-code the ULC? Its bugs may well have passed into the realm of legend, but I would like to have written something that people use and enjoy. I now know how to actually write code properly, and I can use 'real' languages. So if you use and hate the ULC, or you would if it wasn't so damn buggy, or whatever... let me know.

The poll is about whether or not to revive it. I'd be interested to know how many people use it, however. I won't add a second poll just for that though! Add to this post...

It was an application that let you create LANs for Uplink.
Hence the name, Uplink LAN Creator...

Phyreskull! Idea for you! Get it to take topologies from Cisco ConfigMaker and Boson NetSim and translate them into Uplink LANs!

I'm not sure what the format is.
I'll see if I can send you some CM files during the week. Maybe you can figure it out :)
