Since when do you get chased in the open by twenty criminals?

It's a lot more common than being chased by 20 plain clothes police officers.

It also appears that only 3 or 4 officers were in the main chase (the rest came in behind them).

He is also supposedly from Brazil where such gang activity is far more common.

Can't recall a single case of it.
Why would it occur to police that he was running because he thought they were thugs when they're busy deeming him a terror suspect?

See that's exactly the problem. They were too busy making him out to be a terrorist, they didn't even consider other possibilities or even take reasonable precautions before using deadly force.

Another thing, since when do twenty thugs chase you into a station before screaming "Get down on the ground!" when there are still people watching the crime take place?

Better they killed him, if he was a bomber...

Think of all the people that would have died instead.

It's a risk they've got to take.

So now anyone can be killed, just because if they were a bomber it might save lives? Do you realize how dangerous that kind of thinking is?

Nope, But they had every reason to believe he was one.

He was wearing a big baggy coat who wears that in the summer... and he ran away and jumped over the pay things.

But he wasn't a terrorist! As has been said by me and several others, there are a great many things that can account for that behavior. It is one thing to suspect someone is a terrorist; it is quite another to kill someone simply on a suspicion.

There are many nice parks and streets to run in London, but he was running at the wrong place and the wrong time. His family and himself are too unlucky.

Well as I recall there is only one park near that station (Larkhall maybe?) and being that it is not a hugely crowded section of London, I would imagine the park isn't as populated as a tube station would be. Parks can also provide plenty of cover for criminal activities anyway (though that's more of a problem at night).

When I look into a park near where I live at night, it's completely dark inside. I keep thinking if I should go in and see what's inside one day.

Yeah, turns out he was brazilian. So, he was wearing a coat because... he was cold. Nice.

I guess his english wasn't great, either. The fact is, in England (where almost all policemen are uniformed (even the detectives) and very few are armed), a plain clothes man with gun is not likely to be a policeman.

He could have been running because he hadn't paid for his ticket, he could have been running because he didn't understand them, he could have been running because he didn't believe them... all kinds of reasons.

The only good thing to come of this is that it happened so publicly. The police cannot forget it, and so it won't happen so often in future. They have been reminded that the British public value freedom and just govenment more than we value security. That's a message the American public may want to make clear to their leadership, too.
