WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and

to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and

to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and

to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

AND FOR THESE ENDS

to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and

to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and

to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and

to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples,

HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS

If we're going to debate the mandate, let's see it. :P

So, Palastine would come under 1, 2, 3, and 4, while Burundi would come under 4. Maybe.

Wow! You picked out a few lines from a massive charter! Well done!

You still fail to address most of my poins and explain why in the name of fuck one of the smallest food problems in the 3rd world should be given the most attention.

I did not ask about the whole UN, I asked about Jan Ziegler. I did not ask about the political opinions of the UN, I asked about the food aspect of the UN.

You've conveniently ignored all of that.

"Palestine" could be the biggest political problem in the world (it's not), but the fact remains that it is not really much of a food problem and yet the food people at the UN focus on it more than anywhere else.

The fact remains, food has very little to do with the palestinian issue and yet even the food branch of the UN is obsessed with it.

Explain that. You cannot justify these actions.

Nice distracting bollocks though. It's a good tactic, when you can't fight the real argument, bring up an irrelevant load of bollocks to back up a case no-one else is fighting. Good job. One of the problems of arguin on the internet is you can never draw a straight answer out of anyone. I have been asked in the past why I repeat myself and bang on and on at the same point. It's completely due to the fact that otherwise people will dodge round it for ever and ever. If I could get up to these people and ask them to their faces for a straight answer I wonder what they'd say.

Wow, lets take documents containing intelligence information, which try to draw conclusions from very limited available information. Now lets compare them with a big fuck-off document based on public information which anyone can toddle along and verify.

Then lets claim that because a totally unrelated and completely removed document is unreliable, all of them now are...

And my question still stands...
What's your motive behind starting this thing?

I thought that people around here might be interested to know how their beloved UN wastes time and lives in pursuit of a one-sided political agenda. Unfortunately, in complete disregard of a mountain of evidence, they just leapt to the defence of the UN and are now lying through their teeth and producing mountains of irrelevant shit to try and protect it. They just can't accept that people high up at the UN may actually be neglecting their jobs to the detriment of the world.

And you don't have any bias in this matter? No ulterior motives of your own?

You're going to say I'm leaping to the defense of the UN/Palestine/whatever...

Curio: I didn't pull them at random. That's the mandate. The rest of the document is articles describing how the UN is going to go about filling it.

The UN in general is "obsessed" with the palastine issue because it is the direct result of the actions of another nation state. Ziegler works for the UN. So, he spends a lot of time on the issue. I'm not sure why this surprises you.

CHRIST ON A FUCKING STICK!

You actually think it's justified that a UN body that has virtually nothing to do with the palestinian issue can spend the majority of time on that issue, just because it's part of the UN?

Ziegler works for the UN in relation TO FOOD. NOT IN RELATION TO "PALESTINE". So why is he so obsessed with it? It's not his fucking business!

How can I argue with such fucking stupidity?

And what more of a case do I need to make about the UN neglecting the world in favour of its own political agenda.

Because he doesn't like Plaestine, so anything that deals with it more than anything else is bad.

Deepsmeg: When the UN spends more time concentrating on and drawing attention to food shortages in "palestine" than in dozens of other countries with far worse food shortages, something is screwy. However you look at it.

Put it this way
3% of children in the palestinian territories are malnourished
45% of children in Burundi are malnourished

The UN Food Problems head honch makes 9 press releases about the "poor starving children in the palestinian territories". He makes 0 press releases about the "poor starving children in Burundi".

Someone is getting screwed over here, having their problems ignored and having world attention distracted from them to a far less critical problem.

I can't believe this, but I can see where Curiosity is coming from, without the severe political rhetoric of course though. There are other countries that need food more so then Palestein, so a bit of notice for them wouldn't go amiss.

Still the whole Palestine problem wouldn't exist in the first place if certain countries hadn't decided to "make" a new country. Or am I confusing this with something else.

Meh however, Curiosity your way of "discussion" generally is rather in your face and abrupt, with no consideration to anyones views bar your own. You have dug yourself a few large holes in the past, and while you are basically right on this issue, at least to me, you are in the process of digging yourself another one. Hand me the keys to the JCB and go have a time out.

I'd like to point out that the report I linked at the beginning was created by UN Watch which is a non-governmental organization in special consultative status with the UN.

When sbm and doormat dismissed my claims, they also dismissed their claims.

Here's their submission to the UN Human Rights Comm.
Submission

sbm and doormat think they have a better understanding of the UN Mandate than an NGO specialising in monitoring the UN. But then again, they also dismissed a 33-page report as 'shallow information'.

He is just looking for a fight. He is one of those guys who has a need to call people stupid from time to time to feel good about himself. It is sad but that is all he cares about.

I told you from the beginning that I was not going to indulge you in this. . .

Besides as Rkiver said, you are doing a good enough job digging your own hole without my help.
