Shorter Server names
I was thinking about a mod or a possible mod idea. Can anyone tell me how to edit the text content of the game? I would like to to shorten the server names because if I have to use a lot of server on the map, then they become too crowded and it's a pain to find the one I need along the necessary bounce locations (the bounce-lines are distracting too). For example I would remove the "International" from the bank names, the "Central Mainframe" would become "Cen.Mainfr.", etc. Not a big change but a small relief for some ppl (like me).
What do you think and can anyone tell me a way to achieve this?

It isn't possible to do that without the DevCD but you can change the names used, e.g. from the standard uplink ones to ones like Microsoft. If you want to do this, then put a text file called companya.txt into your Uplink\data folder (e.g. C:\Uplink\data) then put a list of names in it - one on each line, like so...
Microsoft
Compaq
Epson
Creative
Sony
Nokia
etc.
Each name must be no more than one word long and you will find it comes up with things like Microsoft International Bank and Creative Developments Central Mainframe.

I only have Dev-C++ here at home, but if I get a chance I might knock something up and compile it at uni...

I retook the ISDN and Frame Relay exams and got passes.
I did the practice final for the semester and passed it.
I took the voucher exam for the big boy final end supreme exam and got a good pass.
Just got to take the semester final and the practice exams for the big boy end supreme.
And I took the semester fianl and got 88.2%.
I don't need to do any more work (Case study & Practice Finals), as I have got enough marks for the semester. However, I'm going to do them anyway.
Before I did anything (other than the steps mentioned in the readme about paths, and applying the patch):
Uplink.exe - 10 error(s), 62 warning(s)
No can do.

Man, I wish my exams were all over... I've got all five still to come.
Electromagnetics (hardest unit of the course)
Probability (I hate it)
Maths (Not too bad)
Electrical Circuits (Need a good mark, fucked up the coursework)
Foundations of Digital Design (computer stuff, Yay!)
Now feel sorry for me!
