I'm confused as to what relevance a rifle has to navigational equipment.. and are you suggesting that the US government owns all the GPS satellites? Because you would be very much mistaken. Almost every single sattellite in orbit is owned by private companies who lease them (for the equivalent of something ridiculous like $100 a second) to governments, military contracters, civilian contracters or corporations. It's not cost effective for governments themselves to own the sattellites, which is why they are 'privatised' like most industries that were once in the US and UK public sector. Neither government could afford to subsidize(sp?) the running cost of sattellites from tax budgets.

The SA80 is probably one of the most redesigned pieces of military equipment still in use (over 100 modifications to the original design), reason being, soldiers have found it jams in just about any situation, too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too dusty. any thing outside of lab conditions really.

in the original GPS there was a hashing algorithm that prevented anyone without US military hardware from getting a reading more precise than a couple of hundred meters.

the GPS was designed and funded by the US government, there for they would still maintain control over their 24 satellites, which is why the US don't like the idea of the EU Galileo project (~60 satellites that the US has no control over)

Again, you're simply stating things without actually pointing out what relevance they have. It seems every time there is any kind of discussion involving the military or MOD you come in and state some random trivia about a gun or something acting like it carries some weight in the argument. Maybe I'm being pedantic, but it's relaly getting on my nerves, if you want to make a point, make sure it has SOME kind of relevance!

I guess he was simply browsing the forum and viewing the old topics, and then something caught his eye, so he began reading it (and 6 pages is a rather long read), and by the time he finished reading it, he forgot that it was an old and forgotten thread, and since he had something to say about the subject, he jsut replied.

i work at mcafee australia and i seen much more destructive viruses in my time there but sasser was a hard one to pin cause of its nature days and days of work virus writers leave us alone sorry somehow the post was delayed

Norton = roughly $50 a year.

It's funny, almost everytime I had a virus, AVG detected it and took care of cleaning it for me. When, at the same time, Norton auto protect sat dormant, not even detecting any kind of virus activity.
