Hey! I'm taking over then!
Sorry, Stews, but I just like those smileys so much! I hate spam, but I try to help. Can you believe I almost had to have for supper?
Oops, getting off topic, folks. I wouldn't be surprised if this was spam. I guess Deepsmeg has competition. *heh*

Hey! Just a bit of common sense, but unless you learned where I lived, or the companys come out with VR helmets or something, that's highly unlikely you'll ever meet me face-to-face.

You guys really should try learning C++. Its really useful and everything is programmed in it, Uplink Included. And it takes about 10 minutes to find the code for "Please enter name" and change it.
Also, if you search by one name it would have to come up with a list of peoples names with that name and searching through those would take even longer!

No you do not need to know C before C++. Visual C++ is Microsoft's little varient of C++, which a lot of people use, though the difference is not huge. Learning C++ is fairly easy as far as the sytax and such go, the libraries are what take time, so I would make sure whatever book you get includes the Standard Libraries. :)
Well there is a website that has tutorials and compilers and everything on it to get you started. http://www.cprogramming.com/
You could also just buy the latest C++ for Dummies, as it has 7 books in one and also has a cd full of tutorials and compilers.

I have never liked the Dummie books, but others do, it is a matter of personal preference. The book I use is C++: The Complete Reference, 4th Edition. Although as a first language I would recommend Java, but C++ is probably more useful. :)
