Meaning Of Life?

Well I would raise the point then that the church who honor God went and killed a few million people over the years with crusades and the like. Now my belief, or in my case no belief is not between me and him, as to me his does not exist, and since something does not exist to me, there can be nothing between us.
Now I am not attempting to attack your belief in your or religion, but since most of the planet is not Catholic in anyway you must consider that perhaps they do not share your beliefs. Just something to consider.

Everyone has her/his own answer to this qestion, you can't really say that hackerboy is wrong.
Even if someone would say that the meaning of life would be to kill the whole human race (not implying that you said anything like that hackerboy) he wouldn't be wrong, unless he tried to do it.

There's gold in them mountains!

To me, killing people is not honoring God, I don't know how you got the idea that I thought so. In fact, in another post in this forum, I stated that I believe that the killing of anyone for any purpose is wrong. I don't make a habit of judging, but I would say that the church that you are referring to is not following God's Word.
Also, I'm not a Catholic.

Actually most of the world believes in a wide variety of gods, no one said they believe in the same one god, in fact some religions make a point by saying it is not the same as the Christian god. Some even have multiple gods.
Now I am not saying hackerboy is right or wrong, as an opinion we are all entitled to them. In fact his idea is a noble one, and if people adhered to that perhaps life would be better. But I honestly don't see that happening. And as most of the most destructive wars were started over religious beliefs I find it hard to believe that religion is the answer. Perhaps part of the answer, but not the whole answer.
I also apologise for the assumption that you were catholic hackerboy. Perhaps Christian would be a more correct assesment?

Quote: from hackerboy on 1:00 pm on Nov. 22, 2003[br]I said that we are created to bring honor and glory to God, not that we have. My Bible says that God is honored when people follow Him.
Your belief, or unbelief in God is between you and Him.
I would submit that my refusal to believe or disbelieve in any God or gods removes me of any connection or conflict with any Him or them that may or may not exist
Mmm, agnostic wording...

Actually, I believe in one true God.
Muslims and Christians do not believe in the same God.
Muslims believe that you are saved through acts, while Christians believe that you are saved throught faith.
Muslims call Jesus a great teacher, while Christians call Him, Saviour.
Jews and Christians believe in the same God, but Jews do not believe in Jesus.

Over 3 Billion people are Christian or Muslim? I had no idea it was that many. But quite a few Muslims would infact say that Allah is not the Chrisitan god, even though as we know they grew out of the same religion.
Regardless this was supposed to be about the meaning of life, not religion. The simplest way to some it up to me would be; Live the best life you can, care for those around you, and be happy. Laugh at least once a day, for life may indeed be a gift. Cry once a day, for those who no longer have that gift. Think once a day, ponder for those who have yet to get their gift. And look forward to the day we may have peace.
(My god I go on don't I?)

There is certainly a good argument to be made that Allah and God are one and the same omnipotent being, but I don't see where you get off saying they are the same thing by definition. Who are you to interpret their religious texts?
[edit] On a different note, this is one reason I like Buddhism... Buddhists don't believe in anyone (no, not Buddha), just in a philosophy- of being nice to people (and yourself). Very neat.

Adriac: And guess what way of life I try and subscribe to? Buddhism is not a religion, it's a view on life.
