l33t?

On the back of the box for Uplink: Hacker Elite, it mentions "Uplink offers two totally different paths to 'l33t' hacker status." When I started playing the game and learned about the different ranks you can achieve, I figured that 'l33t' was the highest rank you could get to. But then I found out that 'l33t' isn't even a rank at all! The highest rank is 'TERMINAL.' Can someone tell me what 'l33t' is supposed to mean?
Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.
l33t,leet,elite, the best. Uplink offers two storyline paths to follow, when it ends you're supposed to be the best hacker alive, thus a l33t hacker.

There is some kind of "1337" language that replaces normal letters with numbers and other characters. It is mainly used by crackers, script-kiddies and warez-people, but also by gamers. If you want to learnmore, look here:

Hope you're not afraid of strange sounds and awful spelling on a website. O.o

No, it's only used by skript-kiddies. Not hackers, crackers, gamers, or anyone else with half a brain.
Oh, normal people use it to make fun of those with single-digit IQ's sometimes.

I've seen gamers using this. But okay, they were all around 12 oder 13 years old. So I guess they pass as script kiddes as well.
It isn't really good for anything - except making fun of others, yes.

Wow, it does look similar.
Less numbers though.
I use 1337 as a joke. Not a religion.
Thats what Redvsblue and Uplink are for.

You wanna bet its not used by gamers? Play Counter-Strike and not find l337. I dare you.
