Ok. im back with my origional user.
Everyone who wants to help out with this game please e-mail me or message me.
We have to decide upon various things!
If there is anyone that is very good with a particular programming language and feel that they could work on the main program by thereselves or with a few others (because we cant program something in 10different languages as thats not clever and wouldnt work ;) )
Please tell me, it makes life easier and we need people good with graphics (3D, 2D e.t.c).

e-mail me , whatever you think you can give it wil help :

Hi again,

Uh, I suck @ graphix - oh well.
Um, I rekon the best language (for me atleast) would be Delphi 'cos I am best at that and I would be able to use that the best. I don't think we should use a language such a Visual C++ because u hafta buy compilers/IDEs for that don't u, and for an open source prog. I don't think we'd be able to afford it. I'm not too great at the other languages I listed, but I can do them pretty well. I could also work on a website for us. Does this game have a name - if not what should it be? I was thinkin until we have a name just callin it 'The Project' would be kinda cool.

Anyway, uplink is calling,
L8r,

I could do the intro.

I have a kick ass program, Maya, that makes 3d videos.

To see what it can do go 2:
http://www.techtv.com/eyedrops/shownote ... 82,00.html
and download "Flat Lux".

You won't believe your eyes.

Once I get home I can start on it.

Name : TheProject
Chat : Dalnet #theproject (irc.dal.net : 6667)
IntroMovie? : Yes
Programming language : Unknown <we need to decide!
OS : Windows

Thats the current status of the game , looks nice and its not even started yet.
Ok , now we need to decide what language we are programming it in. We need someone who is 'fluent' in a certain programming language that can do most of the work as multiple people working on the same source tends to fall appart.

And we need a story , what is the reason and the soryline , you guys have great imaginations... let them free and let me hear what you think the storyline is and what your task in the game is!

I'm  surely going to learn C++, as soon as I can afford that bloody expensive book (I'm only 14, and my monthly "salary" isn't big enough). I already know quite a bit of python, not that that is going to help though. lol.

Just wanted to let you guys know.

Great , well even if you offer support you will get a mention in the credits of the game :) , any voulenteers
for 'lead' programmer?
If this game is good / great we could tweak it up and start to sell it.. (obviously i get all the money, lol nah im jjokin).
If we sold this game (if it was good enough) then the people who helped out would get the cash, i dont want a penny of this project , because it's all fun..
now someone take the position as 'lead' programmer :) .

count me in!

I am yet another 14 year old, I know BASIC, very little C++ but I am ok with level editors.  I have made levels for Red Faction, and modified my copy of Doom to have everything fluffy and pink.

I am also good at HTML.

C++ would be a good language as you can get compilers such as  Bloodshed Dev-C++ for free

Well I'm an experienced delphi programmer if you need one.  No good at C++ at all though.  If I can get my hands on C# and a tutorial I fancy having a bash at that though.

If anyone has seen "The Net" then I think you should be able to do suff like control lifts and interact in a 3d environment.

There could be a "Schematic analyzer" program that allows you to acces the whole area of a building like an Uplink LAN in 3-d.  From there you could access computers, activate lights, set off alarms, sprinklers etc.  You could also use this to implement some of the Ideas on the in-game Introversion software Machine.

Since I am quite good at level design, but not the actual creation (my programming skills are not very good).   that could be my job.  I would need someone to actually program the maps though.  Any volunteers?  12-yr old?

Just a thought but why don't we just encourage introversion to get on with Uplink 2 with most of these additions?

I use gamemaker to program any games and it is really straight forward to use. However i'm not sure if you could make a 3d hacking style game in it.
