To clarify for the edification of those that might be confused: the Steam version of Defcon is identical to the version from IV. The files are in a slightly different location, and you purchase it from a different entity, but the two versions are basically identical. This applies to authentication, joining games (Steam players can join non-Steam games, and vice versa), and mods.

One thing to know though (Which might not be true...) Mods that modify the map data may not be playable with others online...unless all of you have the same mod.
