Reliable Players Thread

Postby Oppenheimer » Fri Oct 06, 2006 11:08 pm

Apologies if this has been set up already, but I thought it might be an idea to have a place where people can contact 'reliable' players (those who won't drop without good reason, basically), in order to arrange matches.

So if anyone ever fancies a match on Defcon, they can try me on my brand new 'Defcon Only' MSN address - big_mac_fries_to_go@hotmail.co.uk - bonus points to anyone who knows the reference.

So add your messenger contact details if you want to arrange a network of reliable, polite(?) mass murderers for thermo-nuclear fun.

Obviously, open a new account if you don't want your contact details made public (or just contact me directly). I'm working all weekend, so I might take a day or two to get back to you.

Cheers,

Oppenheimer

Heh I'm going to look into how feasible a GoodList/BanList app would be.

Sometimes I drop out of the game not because of my will :( Positioned in Indonesia means sometimes the server is half the world away.

But fortunately (or unfortunately) I tend to only lose connection when im winning

If I'm in your game, unless I experience an emergency or something goes wrong with my connection, I'll stick it out till the last citizen is dead. I'm known as Soldant in game. (Funny that, hey?)

I'd like to say that I'm reliable, since I don't drop on purpose, but I seem to get an unfortunate amount of connection problems. :(

Ah, a decent idea. Well, I've added your address to my messenger contacts and I shall post mine here for anyone who wants a game.

The reference is Pop Will Eat Itself - Def.Con.One

Lyrics are:
Ten to doomsday, moving fast...
Heads up! Mind that blast.
No time to sleep, it's Def.Con.One.
Can't get no sleep as the ticking ticks on,
No time for fear, it's Def.Con.One,
No time to eat but get me some

Big Mac, fries to go...
Big Mac, fries to go...
Get me Big Mac, fries to go...
Get me Big Mac, get me fries to go...
Watchman!
We love you all...
Hup! Hup!

Heads up! Ground floor coming up...
How sick is Dick?
How gone is Ron?
How sick is Dick?
How gone is Ron?
What's the time?
It's Def.Con.One...
Say, what's the time?
Just get me some

Big Mac, fries to go...
Big Mac, fries to go...
Get me Big Mac, fries to go...
Get me Big Mac, get me fries to go...
Watchman!
We love you all...
Hup! Hup!

Goodbye city, hello moon,
Hands up! Vote Dr. Doom!
"You know it makes sense"...
It's Def.Con.One, hey! What's occuring? What goes on?
"It's the only choice..."
So get me some

Big Mac, fries to go...
Big Mac, fries to go...
Get me Big Mac, fries to go...
Get me Big Mac, get me fries to go...
Watchman!
We love you all...
Hup! Hup!

Look for me online using this name. I typically host with my name in the server title.

Cool, I shall keep an eye open in the server list, have accepted those who have added me to MSN. Bonus points (an extra 10 million kills?) to PhantomTa2, who recognised the glory that is Pop Will Eat Itself (or possibly googled it).

A good list / ban list could be a good idea, although you'd have to make sure you don't ban people who drop accidentally.

Keep the ideas and the addies comin' peeps.

Gardu - I wouldn't worry about not being good, there are way more bad players than good out there, and everybody loses anyway (I know I do). Practice makes perfect, or so I've heard :-)

Soldant - I think I might have played against you, your name definitely rings a bell.

I play under my forum name.

I don't drop or quit voluntarily - I waited through nearly 2 minutes of 'connection problems' the other night, and the other guy dropped eventually.

I do, however, backstab if it looks like it will be an amusing moment to do so, so I'm not sure you could call me reliable

Really? E-rep +1 :)

I don't seem to recall you though... but that's probably because I'm bad with names and take screenshots at the end of each game so I know who I was playing against.
