Depends, Nintendo confirmed that their "virtual console" service can be used for newly created games as well, not just roms of past systems' games. It remains to be seen what you have to go through to get a game published on there though...

I've heard rumours that the dev kit for Wii is about $1700, which is a LOT less than the usual what, $20.000-$30.000?

This could have some very huge effects on the indie game development market :)

Xbox live arcade would KICK @$$. Id spend some points on it for sure. Two thumbs up for HD gaming with this bad boy without lugging my computer to the tv.

like i said, it was just a wild idea taht popped into my head. i thought widescreen was prefect for it and analog control for teh pointer isnt that bad. I use the browser all the time its not all that bad. as for comms, jsut give support for the PSP's USB headset. Duh. If the PSP can run games like syphon filter, metal gear solid: portable ops, and burnout with perfectly fine 3d graphics, i think it can handle a 2d game like DEFCON. Without the pretty stuff like the glows or the streaks. it'd be great for a nice game on the bus. But im no expert.

BTW i bought DEFCON today! Awesome game devs, if i lived in Britain, id give you a good pat on the back.

You and your overclocking. I hear it overheats unless you happen to be in a walk-in freezer.

No, I have a rather cool liquid Helium cooling system set up. It weighs about 47 pounds, but it is more portable than the walk in freezer option.
