Contest?

Postby naterd00d » Fri Oct 06, 2006 2:31 am

just throwing this idea out there, how about we all open photoshop. create our own maps and (if you want) own units to make a concept mod

we compile them, vote, and the winner gets to have his mod made

different aspects are assigned to different people, and at the end, it is all compiled into one awesome community mod

Sounds like a great idea---with all these tools being made it would be nice to have all members of the community working together on something--
personally I'll vote for something that has a north pole view of the world cus that would be awesome :-)

Creating the graphics for maps and units are most of the work for a mod anyway, by the time people have made enough for it to be able to be voted on, the mods pretty much finished.

True. It takes a few hours at the very most to make the 2d graphics (depending, of course) ... Interesting, this.

By the way, a CoastlineDrawer tool is well underway

Did you know that your cityplacer tool can be used as a coast line drawer, instead of clicking where the cities are, just click points along the coast line, and then copy the co-ordinates from cities.dat to coastline.dat

May i ask, why NSW is part of Victoria? :P

Anyway, NZ has the advantage of suprise, its outta airbase fighter range, and its nukes come in fast. :P
"Surely you didn't mean to press that button just then did you?"
"No, nor will i disarm the nukes."
"Oh well, I will have my Fighters shoot them down."
"Sure you will."
"Oh NOES, ITS BEEN PATCHED!!!"

I like the idea of a competition or two, but first I'd like to see the members of this forum getting together to do some good mod work, like the spacemod, the land vehicle test and Avatar's Ghosthack

I will also be working more towards the documentation of the modification process for Defcon, before I enter any competition work, its worth more at this stage
