Spambot? Consider this a second warning from a second forum official.
Ooh, I had forgotten about him. Both his new threads are copy-pasta, so banned.

Also, Bubble Bobble. 'cause I like it.

Star Wars (with ze vector graphics) came out in 1983, but maybe even that's a little too "modern"? ...grandpa :P

Sorry wrong...I still can't pass by one of those without having a go... "Red 5 standing by"...haven't seen one for a couple of years though.

New clue added to original post, big give away I think...

There was a heck of a lot of "unusual" mechanics and innovation during development of arcade games of the early 80s. Many mechnaics we may see as standard have their roots in that period.

In anycase, the stand-out arcade game from the early 80s (for being 'different', 'unusual' or otherwise exciting) has to be Dragon's Lair

Good thinking but not the one I'm thinking of...I recently got DL on PSN, still fun...I recall depositing way too much of my student loan into DL2.

Anyway the clue refers to an unusual feature rather than the entire premise being unusual....oops, have I said too much :?:
