Well I tried that, and did everything exactly as it said, but apparently I'm missing the critical options to change my display language and it seems like I cannot download any language packs :(

Probably a store near him? There is little to no point getting a version better than Home Premium, and I guess he made the irrational choice to get it in his language.

I'm 90% sure you can always demand an English OS.

I knew Wacken sells tickets quickly, but this is a little beyond belief. With their current level of fame they start ticket sales the day after the festival ends (i.e. today), by itself of course quite a feat; then their special Christmas package (ticket + goodies at 2/3rds of the normal ticket price) apparently sold out within the first 45 minutes of the sale starting. (This limited-to-10000-tickets deal was obviously introduced in a time when the sales started at a later point in time, hence the lack of logic in the name.) How naive of me to think that if I tried at 10 in the morning I would still have a chance.

I still bought the normal ticket though; it feels really weird to buy a ticket for a festival that is 359 days from now.

Englanders, as a member of the international community, I'd just like to say: if in the process of putting down those idiots you knock a few heads or shoot a few rioters, I won't hold it against you.

As much as I would like to see the douches getting some of what they deserve, I certainly hope the police doesn't end shooting people due to this. If they did, then I'm pretty sure that would be when the shit really hit the fan.

Yeah, shooting them would be a bad idea. That's not to say that I don't think some of them deserve it, but the consequences would be steep.

(When it comes to rioters, there's a bit of a divide between what I think should happen, and what I think the best choice actually is.)

Considering the rioting was triggered by a police officer having shot and killed a man, more shootings is likely to only make things worse.
