World at War graphical mod released

Postby NuclearDruid » Tue Oct 03, 2006 2:11 pm

I have finally finished the mod. This is just a graphical conversion for the game Defcon.
Changes:
Nuke -> V1 rocket
Sam Site -> Flak Cannon
Nuke Silo -> V1 Launcher
Radar Station -> A more "primitive" radar tower
Air Field -> Trying to make it look older
Battleship -> A standard WW2 Design for the Battleship
Aircraft Carrier -> A look-alike to the aircraft carrier's on the Pacific Front
Submarine -> The U-Boat
Fighter -> P-51 Mustang
Bomber -> Ilyushin Il-4
City Icon -> A house looking thing

If people somehow like this mod. I may look into making major changes to the gameplay, including changing the sides to play. Ex: Nazi Germany partly spread over europe, Russia, Japan, US, Great Britain (which includes some African areas), and some others. I doubt I will do this though unless people beg me. Anyways you can download the mod here.....

Thanks to http://defcongame.tk/ for hosting the files, and a little help on the mod :) Be sure to go there frequently!

Thanks for your support.

I always give thumbs up to a mod.

Really nice graphics, you might consider even "filling" them?
But i don't really like the radars though.

Fleets are excellent!

Nice work - though there were only two nuclear bombs in existence during the last lot, you realise... still, looks like a fun change!

Is it just me or do the Fighters and the Nukes look alike in the screens you took?

No, there are a lot of differences between them. Perhaps you are confused on what the V1 Rocket is? Here is what it looks like http://www.jonathanwatmough.com/parisday4/day4_015.jpg
It takes a bit getting use to, but I think you can see the difference if you look close enough... =p

good, but prefer taking a V2 rocket instead of a V1

It would be well for your government to consider that having your ships and ours, your aircraft and ours, in such proximity... is inherently DANGEROUS. Wars have begun that way, Mr. Ambassador....

Absolutely awesome. You know, if you felt like doing an absolute heap more work, rejigging the map so it was just europe, stopping it from wrapping around, and adding more detail to the cities might make it even more.. it would just be an interesting spin on things, I think.

I am planning to do that if people will like this enough... for now it's time to finish up this.

From my understanding, we had a few more but we wanted to test them and also to show them off to military higher ups to impress them. When showtime came, we only had the two.

Don't forget V2's could also be launched from outdoor silos! :twisted:
