New Sound Mod: "Nuclear Launch Detected!"
So, yesterday I was spectating a game, along with a couple other people, and we were having the most delightful conversation about all sorts of things involving nuclear warfare, and a good time was had by all. One of my fellow spectators - a mysterious man I know only by the name of Unknown - suggested that the phrase "Nuclear launch detected!" from the well-known game, Starcraft, might be used to great effect in this here game to let you know when a nuclear missile is fired.
I took it as a challenge to have it modded and on the forums within 24 hours (it was late; I was quite tired!). While it cannot produce the amusing "Nu-nu-nu-nu-nuclear launch detected!" effect, I find that it might a bit more noticable than the Quiet Warning Klaxon (tm) when you are otherwise preoccupied with your insignificant and weak boats and jumbo jets.
So without further ado, I present to you the Starcraft Nuclear Launch Detected mod, complete in Terran, Protoss, and Zerg flavors. All you need to do is unpack the contents of the RAR file of your choice (one at a time, please!) to your root Defcon directory. To revert back to the Quiet Warning Klaxon (tm), you need only delete the enemylaunch2.ogg file within the data/sounds/ subdirectory.
Let me know what you think!

Good idea.
EDIT: Ok they work GREAT, Ahh memories of Starcraft.
Protoss FTW!

"Surely you didn't mean to press that button just then did you?"
"No, nor will i disarm the nukes."
"Oh well, I will have my Fighters shoot them down."
"Sure you will."
"Oh NOES, ITS BEEN PATCHED!!!"

Air raid siren
I think an air raid siren would work best. They had a good one in Civ 2.
Could you give me somekind of tutorial in modding sounds?
i would like to do that too, with a other sound...

Don't forget that it is still illegal to spread files that you don't have the right to publish/share.
All of those wav-files you might find in games/from tv-series/movies are most likely still under strict copyright.
These forums are strick
I am not for breaking the law don't get me wrong but i'm a practical somewhat pragmatic person and honestly, blizzard coming after someone for using a couple sound bites.....you are more likely to be hit by lightning like 5 times in a row.

For some reason I find the sound extremely spine-chilling.
Is there any way for me to obtain the sound file of it (I have no idea how to pull it from the data file, IF that is albeit possible) ?
Sound.Dat can be opened in winrar as it is more or less just a .rar file to begin with. So open it that way and you should be able to find it somewhere in there. The name will probably give it away.
