Proposition concerning necrobumping.
Yeah, hi. I know a lot of topics I've started in the past have been a great deal of embarrassment to me, and this one probably will be too.
Look, we've all seen that business with the spammer on the news forums, necrobumping topics so old they reach back to the dawn of IV. This has go tot stop. I therefore propose the "margin of living."
The margin of living is very simple. Every topic that falls below a certain page will be locked or deleted to prevent necrobumps. If a topic is falling back due to deliberate inactivity (IE, a TWG in the night phase), it may be "petitioned" by posters. This is a simple PM to an admin requesting that the topic is not locked in the event it falls below the margin.
On a side note, if the spammers' necrobumps catch up with present day posts, will the spammer fall off the end of the space/time continuum?

You shouldn't have said something, now you'll have to worry that someone will snipe you.
I don't know if that system would help more than it would hinder. With no public lambasting of necrobumpers, a lot of newbies would not learn it's a bad thing to do, and pester the hell out of the moderators, who would have to reply to each individually.
If by any chance one of those necrobumps actually is justified, they would be more likely to dismiss it. I think the system we have works out mostly okay.
The only thing that might work a bit better that I've seen in other forums, is only allowing newbies to post on an introduction section for a while, before they can post on all the other forums.

You're trying to find a solution for a non-existent problem.
If the necrobump is not justified, the topic will soon sink out of the first page. It might annoy you, but it probably won't kill you. Why propose labour-intensive procedures that hinder creativity and can possibly cause conflicts, all to solve a problem that does not actually exist?
