Most of the clues were about as cryptic as the puzzles themselves. I'm unsure we even made any use of them.

That's because I overestimated the groups (everybody playing) ability to solve (as bert put it) "elementary" puzzles. :P

Here's what we got in explicit clues (there was more general private chat, too, and I may be missing something; the public google translate clue you all got was given to us a bit earlier, too):

First room:
Ace Rimmer wrote:After listening to the group and studying the room yourself, you stumble across inscription carved into the lid of the sarcophagus. While getting the rest of the group engaged in deep conversation, you try to work it out as best you can. Several minutes later and you realize that a rough translation bears striking resemblance to a rather familiar verse:
xkcd, roughly translated wrote:Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on,
While these again have greater still, and greater still, and so on.

Stranger still, this same verse is carved four times.

Second room:
Ace Rimmer wrote:After what seems like an eternity in the second room, it hits you. "Aha, I must think like a king! And, what does a king usually require (especially one aspiring to be a god)?"

Ace Rimmer wrote:Upon reviewing the facts:

Code: Select all

in the room, four levers on each wall (16 total, four identical sets of four) approximately 150mm off the floor. Each set includes a lever representing: Stars, Sun, Moon, Earth.

Of considerable note is an obvious over sized rendering of King xkcd who is holding a scroll, upon which this is displayed: (Groups decipher believed to be) "All creatures trembling shall"

The room indeed is some sort of "picture" of what the ancients believed to be the heavenly plane. The "creatures" are actually depictions of the gods they worshiped and fill the room. King xkcd obviously is the center of attention. Also, the floor seems to be a map of the known world

Translates to:

Code: Select all

Man, standing on ground, looking up at (possibly xkcd, in) the heavenly plane, would do what if moving any of the levers

Ace Rimmer wrote:Surely, it's obvious now what the answer is? I mean, xkcd has moved. Twice.

I thought for sure that somebody would have gotten this one.
Not me.

Huh.

Well, at least I managed to make some degree of sense of the puzzles.

So wait, what were people supposed to do just under the word "entry"?
