Since technically IV games are commercial (they are sold after all), I'll have to strongly disagree ;)

I have one questions: to what does the "mir" refer? In Russian, it can mean either "peace" or "the world", depending on context. Do you want peace, the world, or both (preferably under your iron fist)?

If the about page on the introversion site is to be believed, it's his surname.

Oh and congrats, welcome and all that :D

We come in Peace

Postby martinmir » Mon Jul 07, 2008 9:38 pm

Thank you everyone but to just clarify Im not Russain but I do come in Peace.

Next Topic

If you believe Introversion games to be commercial then what do you call merging Sonic and Mario to form a game based around the Olympics for the console Nintendo Wii.

You have to give us some credit for giving you guys something different to play.

As I get older I find myself questioning why I want to play a game. It's not enough for a game to be different...there has to be a hook for me and I'm finding that hook more and more difficult to find.

Everyday Shooter is the last game I bought and enjoyed (still enjoy) playing...for the sounds more than the somewhat retro shooter game play. That's the hook...

"Commercial" games just don't work for me any more...as Trinity said to Neo(approx)..."you've been down that road before, you know where it leads"...it's how I feel about big commercial titles now...I'm probably missing out on some stuff but I doubt it's much to get upset about. In the past I'd buy a game just for an instant shiny graphics fix that would soon fade...not any more.

Shit...I sound like an old fogey

Define commercial!

Really, that's the basic issue here.

If by commercial you mean stuff that can be bought and sold, then IV games are commercial.

If by commercial you mean something designed from the start with the sole intent of profit, then IV is not particularly commercial, while that obvious attempt at milking the consumer for his/her hard won cash by associating three (!) well known and loved (at least at one point) entities/events is.

How about 'commercial' games are games that attempt to appeal to a mass-market audience or at least what a publisher defines as a mass-market audience.

Sort of like EA Sport Game 2009 Version 6billion?

I dislike those games intently.

I like games that are different and try something new.

I also like random shooty sploder and RTS mania.

Can we turn it around a bit...who do you, IV, want to sell your games to :?:

Is there a person or demographic out there who you don't want to be buying your games :?:

There are about 19million XBOX 360's out there...is that a mass-market :?:

EDIT
Sorry just re-read this and all those :?: look a bit confrontational...I'm just interested...
