Tornadoes and Alien Attacks

How come these didn't make the game? And is there any way to enable them?

I wouldn't know why they weren't included in the game but there is a graphic for the tornado in the main.dat file.

Same with lasers and saucers, presumably for the aliens. There's also some mention of them in english.txt

Oh, you mean the plane?

I think the generic fighter suffices for that.

But seriously, aliens? I don't remember them being seriously considered but for a few mod threads.

It's easy to see IV pondering about adding aliens and tornadoes.

I believe the laser images you see are used by the fighters. As for the UFO and tornado it was probably going to be a random event that occured like Sim City but didn't work out. Just like caves and bridges in Darwinia.

You guys aren't patient enough. Maybe these are still random attacks that happen in-game. Maybe they have a very small chance of happening, but still might happen. The game has been out for a day now. Be patient.

Actually I hope not. An alien ship coming down and blasting the crap out of one of my silos or cities would not be amusing, and if it hit the right thing like an exposed radar station it could put me at a major disadvantage.

I would rather see an ID4 sort of thing as a singleplayer mode. Obviously in this game the nukes would have to actually work against the alien ships...

You can't send a nuke against an air target usually. In this game, I doubt it. The A/A function of Silos will do just fine.

The Aliens are still in the game.. you just have to know how to activate them.. ;)

It had better not envolve the system clock and Independence Day.
