SPOILER ALERT!

Just finished The Children of Men last night. I liked the book, but I must say that I spent most of the book liking the antagonist far more then the protagonist. Theo was, to me at least, so incredibly obnoxious and self righteous that I spent most of the time rooting against him, and while I suppose Xan was a dictator he really seemed to be pretty benevolent, and by everyone's admission he seemed to be doing a very good job. The last two chapters where the two seemed to suddenly switch roles was the only thing that saved me from rooting for the "bad guy" the whole book.

I think it's just that James is obnoxious and irritating, so she expects people to like people with the same attributes. Anyway, who's surprised that our resident right authoritarian likes the dictator? :P

At first I thought you were referring to Dante and Thomas More. Whoops.
