We could call it Darwinier. The third tittle to complete the trilogy could be called Darwiniest.

The Greenest War : Even the Souls Get Recycled (or Soldiers)

FodderMakers(a la PuppetMasters)

GODFODDER

something along the lines of "atom-smasher", thrasher, collider... Colour Thrasher : everyone wants to be Top Quark

One of the problems with coming up with a name is that the DGs are called Darwinians and IV want to avoid the word Darwinia. What else can you call them? I can't think of any decent short descriptive names for sprite stick people. They're not even really stick people 'cause they can't move their arms and legs... they're just static sprites endowed with quantum AI and individualized personalities, codes, souls, sizes, and shades of their team colours. If someone hadn't played Darwinia, how the hell would you explain what DGs are to that person? Can you do it in 3 words or less without sounding like a CS nerd?

Anyhow, I don't think I'll ever come up with a better name than this:

GODFODDER

God game, Fodder, GodFather... what more could you want? Doesn't even need a tagline. Scrabble dictionaries are great! http://www.morewords.com/ ... The domain name is even up for sale and the only commercial use seems to be a band name. Only 543 Google hits. ... oh, and a metal label called Godfodder Records that seems to have only one band, Dublin Death Patrol. Maybe they're fans of yours, Chris?

GODFODDER : War is Fun Again
GODFODDER : War is Hilarious
GODFODDER : Hilarious Little Wars
GODFODDER : Cannons Included
GODFODDER : Slash and Burn Culture for the Digital Age

GODFODDER : a War so Fun You Can't Refuse

Maybe you can bring back the "Bugs"?

The Darwinians used to hunt these cattle-like
creatures during the early years of Darwinia. The
Bugs would just fumble around the landscapes,
occasionally breaking the subsystems that made up
the world or corrupting the textures they came into
contact with. Until recently it was believed that the
Bugs had all been eradicated from Darwinia.

... for sacred slaughter, of course.

ClobberFest : Fast, Furious, Fun

ClobberFest : Victory is a Laughing Matter

ClobberFest : Defeat is as Fun as Victory

ClobberFest : The GodFodder Wars

ClobberFest : The GodFodder Games

ClobberFest : Hilarious SoftWars

ClobberFest : SoftWars, Hardcore & Hilarious

ClobberFest : SoftWars SuperHard

ClobberFest : Games for Mortal Gods & Immortal Fodder

...kinda like Octoberfest: even the sprites are having drunken fun. (note: "Softwar" is TGF's pun, but I like it...)

Protowinian Revelries : With the Help of the Gods, Ancient War is Alive Again

Protowinian Clobberfests : The Spirit of War is Fun Again

Protowinian Clobberfests : Worshipping Immortal War

Protowinian Clobberfests : Fodder for Gods, Frenzied Fun for All

Imagine Spock revisiting his inner berserker, only the DGs channel their protowinian savageness for the fun and pure adrenaline-driven joy of war. The Gods partake and guide the revelries and the whole festival has a semi-religious significance for the DGs. Of course the Gods have their own motives, but everyone enjoys the frenzied fodder tactics. The multiserver environment reincarnates individuals who "die", so the wars are truely games to play, governed by the crates of chance and the skills of Gods. A modern reinterpretation and reenactment of the ancient ways, when Bugs wandered freely and DGs fought to survive. Perhaps the DGs in this sector have evolved into a Warrior Caste, and these war games are part training, part initiation ritual, and part worship to the Gods of War. This is boot camp. The hardened warriors sit on the sidelines and laugh with us while drinking bitbrews.

It might make an interesting twist to the game if DGs progressively harden, so in some later rounds they don't run and scream and scatter when grenades drop, but keep on course or run around. Or maybe just a crate-spell of extra courage.

Terawatt : the power of war spelled backwards

"inward" is an anagram for "Darwin", but I can't make the "war" stand out

Eat Your Greens : a war of nutrition

name it after one of the Greek gods, like KHAOS or KYDOIMOS who was the god or spirit (daimon) of the din of battle, confusion, uproar and hubbub. He was probably numbered amongst the Makhai, daimones of the battlefield. He was virtually identical to Homados (Battle-Noise)

The Din of War

Warfair : a carnival of chaos and competition
Warfarin : let the blood run

Wonderfully Amusing Raids
What A Rush

Ecological : competition, cooperation, trust, trickery & betrayal, this is war
Ecological : crush the competition or suffer the hilarious defeat
Ecological : who knew evolution could be this much fun?
Ecological : devolutionary war is fast, fun and brutal
Ecological : evo/devo speedwars are games of chance and fitness/skill

Speedevo : the war of evolution in fast-forward
Speedevo : hilarious speedwars, survival of the fittest, and chaotic defeat

Valhalla : wars eternal
Vidhalla : sprite wars eternal
Vidhalla : eternal war, immortal glory
(note: "vidhalla" is a swedish v. = "to maintain", so no ugly international conotations I know of)

P.S. I just do this sometimes when I get insomnia. It's fun like crosswords or scrabble... yeah. But really, maybe IV will tell us they've found a name, or a few people will tell me to stop ("shutup already!") spamming horrible names, or maybe, just maybe someone will get sick of my attempts and own me with a great name that knocks Chris off his feet. But it's a tough row to hoe:

Chris wrote:We're aiming for a fast, brutal and hilarious multiplayer wargame, set in the world of Darwinia. ... We are fairly sure we don't want the word Darwinia in the main title at all. We want something that represents the fun crazy action multiplayer game we are trying to make.

Cram that into one word. The hard part is to keep it light-hearted and avoid the moral oxymoron of war being hilarious AND brutal.
