Incidentally, you're thinking 'sexual reassignment surgery' - plastic surgery is superficial cosmetic stuff. Using, uh, plastic.

Actually, plastic surgery gets its name from the fact that human flesh is very plastic, i.e. it can be easily shaped or molded. There is very little plastic (as in the petrolium based carbon compond used in grocery bags) involved.

Ignore the last sentence - it was meant to be a lame joke that I pulled off poorly. My main point was that a sex change isn't really (solely) plastic surgery, which is focused on appearance, rather than actually removing bodily organs. Correct me if this is a misconception.
