The idiots made a system full of aids and fail, meaning that you can't play single player without an internet connection.
Actually you can, if you just log out properly :P or rather, just shut down steam and don't log out.. They implemented this ages ago :X

Yep, aparently there's been a huge storm and their power's out. The power company won't fix it till the storm has stopped.

Bummer really, it's the main thing i don't like about steam, it having a centralised server system. At least Defcon still works though :D

no DefCon for me

Postby ynbniar » Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:43 pm

...unless there's a workaround...

...won't let me play anything....

...says it won't run in offline mode...no local login or something...will only run in offline mode after the next time I log in???

:(

Your too right I should...except Steam tells me there is no local login details and there won't be until the next time I log on...when's that? 2007? 2008?

...so because of this all the games I paid money for a license are locked out to me because the central server's down...

...heads must roll.

...poor introversion forum getting all my Steam stress....

...at least I got DefCon to work eventually...then got nuked

Oh please. This has been a known worry since Steam launched and thus you should have expected it to happen at some point or other.

If us poor STEAMers get the Dedicated version of DefCon, would we be able to play offline or when STEAM has it's frackin' issues??

Its one thing to be unhappy but wishing people dead due to a storm causing a power outage and thus the lose of services is another matter, particularly when most people (in the gaming world) know of the dependency of Steam licensed games on Steam servers.

Just because you know you're going to die doesn't mean you should be wanting to decapitate clergymen. ;)

Well, I've actually been whining about this from the very start, so why should I quit now that it actually happens? ;)
