New patch coming soon for Darwinia
We have been working carefully on Darwinia since launch, and plan to release a patch with a number of fixes and enhancements soon. We have improved some of the more flaky systems that took some flak in our reviews, and we have fixed a number of small bugs and problems. You can read a complete change list here.
Today we have started beta testing this new patch on Windows, which will bring Darwinia up to version 1.2. Currently only our beta testers have access to the patch. We will soon begin beta testing for Mac and Linux. If you are a Darwinia beta tester (phase 1 or phase 2, either is ok) then please go to the Beta Testers forum for instructions on how to download and test the new patch.
Our hope is to launch the new patch within the next couple of weeks, for Windows, Mac and Linux.
In other news
- We've added a load of scans to our Exposure section under Print Magazine reviews. We've added scans of the reviews in PC Format and Edge Magazine.
- NAG magazine reviewed Darwinia and awarded us an astonishing 97%...the highest rating they have ever given a game. You can see a scan of the review on the above Print Magazine link. They had this to say about the game:
"The industry wallows in mediocrity - contented overfed pigs rolling in their own stagnant creations. Meanwhile, small self-publishing indie developer Introversion quietly raises a bar the malignant industry didn't know it had."

What about reseting objectives and buildings when level is reset (more info here).

Those were in earlier betas, but were taken out promptly.
THe reason: If buildings were reset, you could gain the research over and over again, and thus easily max out your research.
Though, I suppose it would be nice to reset any research you had gain at such a point, but m'eh.

Do the buildings have anything to do with the research? None that I can think of. If IV can make the buildings be reset without including the research, that would be good, gamewise. If it's not possible, no need to touch that (reducing the number of Darwinian requirement from 200 to 150 in the Containment level was bad enough).

This was discussedin the thread. I already offered a solution, and asked for any developers to comment on wether it's possible (because to me it seemed quite simple, but then again, I don't know how the game was made).
