Linux version of Darwinia launched!

Postby Chris » Fri Mar 18, 2005 4:50 pm

We are very pleased to announce that the Linux version of Darwinia is now available for download. Both the demo and the full game are ready. John has worked tirelessly to get this ready and we're all very pleased indeed.

To get the Linux demo, go to our Demo page and click on Linux. Or just click here. If this is your first taste of Darwinia then we really do hope you enjoy it.

The full game CD that you purchase from our site or from the UK high-street contains only the Windows version of Darwinia. In order to install for Linux you must first purchase this Windows CD. You can then freely download a Linux patch from this website and run it on your system. The patch will use the Game CD you have purchased and will install the game on your Linux system. You can find the full game Linux patch here.

Currently we are hosting the Linux demo on this site only. If you're a webmaster please feel free to mirror the Linux demo. Tell us about your mirror and we'll add them to the linux downloads page. This should help us to survive any big download spikes.

I've updated the roadmap - it's looking like we're almost finished now. We are very sorry to all those still waiting for the Mac version. We've run into some pretty serious driver problems with the Mac that are holding up its release. We are still hoping to release the Mac demo and full game this month.

Enjoy the new demo!

Congratulations on the Linux release, and thanks for the update on the Mac release. Now that I have GooBall, I may be able to wait another couple of weeks. ^_^

Y'all have done good work. Thanks.
