What type of NAT does your broadband router do?

The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Yeah, you see, my network's NAT situation falls under the category of WTF.

Code: Select all

Port-dependent filter
Preserves port number
Does not supports hairpin of media
Public IP address: 62.65.65.66   (... such a cow of an IP)

Thing is, I'm on a wireless router with NAT, which is connected to a broadband modem with NAT. However, port forwarding through NAT didn't work on my router until I did the firmware upgrade.

Router:
Buffalo WBR-G54 802.11g 54Mbps Wireless Cable / DSL Router Access Point

Not a clue what broadband modem we have. It's unmarked and our ISP gave it us.

My house just switched from DSL to FiOS fiber optic. Let's see how the new WiFi router does...

No NAT detected - VoIP should work
Preserves port number
Supports hairpin of media
Public IP address: 195.56.81.xxx

no wonder, it's a PPPoE connection on an RTM Win2K3 w/ the integrated fw disabled. Will test again tomorrow at my workplace.
