I agree with jon about the 'main thing'.
I was going to play yesterday, but real life prevented me from dedicating enough time. I will be on next week (Tue and Thur).
It's a little bit funny that we (as a group) still haven't figured out that there are simply not enough players to do things 'right', when it comes to tourneys.
Keep up the good work Laika.

jon wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again, the random alliances format works better than teams. With teams if your heavy hitters turn up most you will win. In the abandoned Turgon tourney, one team always played two of baton/mot/r3d so had no chance whatsoever of losing more than 50%. Also randomness leads to interesting team matchups.
Main thing is tourney is good thing, thank you doggy. Don't get annoyed!
yep i agree

One other thing and it's rather unfortunate but human nature: if you log on and see super pros on the other team waiting, and a relative noob waiting for your team, most people would be very unlikely to join the game, knowing that they have almost no chance even if they play a stormer. Sorry but that's how it is... Randomness eliminate s this and can provide amusing outcomes.

I would agree that this happens (hey, I'm guilty of it on a rare occasion); however, I disagree that random alliances removes it. It won't matter to some that they 'might' have a chance against the 'pros' because of random alliances, they still view the game as 'most likely' not being in their favor. I.e., at least one of the enemy will be a pro.
The only way you could get rid of this would be to:
1. Have the server automatically assign new player names at random while supressing the 'Player X was renamed to Y' message.
2. Have the server prohibit private messages (to prevent "hey, it's me Player X")
3. Void any game where true names are revealed before the game over message (to prevent "hey, it's me Player X" in alliance chat)

Fuck it enough talking from me, let's just press on, people are playing games and there are loads of specs
One suggestion: move me to other team as I will play a fair bit, taking some pressure off sen and moth

I'm glad you realised it after my brilliant performance.

So I just played a game with cows v Laika and R3d with much worse territories. It was 2 hours of pain. Green team keeps putting forward its heavy hitters...

Yes this did actually happen and it was amazing.
Stick around please, Nuki. I cannot commit to many games either, but even a couple games is better than none. Might not have been a game earlier, but I joined and we were able to play. Sorry I couldn't go a second game following that guys, but wanted to hang out with Ed some and take a break.
And Jon, if you watch recording, you will see that this win was just like blowing up the Death Star. Watch for key moment; you have to find MOR's secret button. (correction; apparently it was R3D's secret button, but it was very MORish play, holding timer with solitary CV). Recording is worth watching, especially for MOR's warning at beginning of game. In fact, lot of good fortune telling this game.
