Phase 1:
Player: Hey mom! They have announced a Defcon tourney on the forum!!! That's soooooooooooooooo awesome!!!!
Mom: Supi, but don't forget to tidy up your room.
Player: Sure, mommi.

Phase 2:
Player: Cooool, a tour! Where to sign up? Help me! Where? (Player signs up in three different wrong threads)
Ace Rimmer: Geez, here kid right thread.

Phase 3: Around 3 weeks later. Teh player hasn't played any games so far.
Schub: WTF?! Why don't you play? WTF?! You have signed up! WTF?! Think about your responsibility for other players. WTF?!
Player: WTF?! That's ridiculous! WTF?! It's only a game! WTF?! Don't take it too serious! WTF?! Get a life! WTF?! I didn't have the time to play. WTF?!
Mom: True, he had to tidy up his room.

Phase 4: After almost 7 f*cking weeks, we are still in the f*cking group phase.
The tour is fading away. Schub quits...oh...and Blackout, too. But Ace Rimmer is the winner.

Sorry Jon, I might spoil the tour but it is already covered with so much dirt, that mine won't be recognized.
Btw, it's only a game! Don't take it too serious! And goddamnit get a life! :P

I totally agree. The "oh it's just a game" responses are incredibly frustrating. There should be some way to penalize people who sign up and make no effort to play. At the very least we should make note of the people who did that this time around and bar them from subsequent tournaments.

How many group phase games are there left? Why not PM all the people that still need to play and give them a set period to get it done. If they won't, then put them on a public list of people who don't get to register for the next one. Couldn't hurt.

...or we just go to a sudden death round amongst the undefeated players!

Sorry for the delay between me and sfericz... I am only online on Saturdays and Sundays, since I'm a middle school student and school is more important than getting schooled.

a real shame because R3D, Ace Rimmer and others had a lot of work with the tour!
R3D, please give us a sign what to do now.
I am thinking to make a new 2v2 tourney/ladder after finishing this tour and finishing the defcon music! :)
a 2v2 ladder without group phases or knockouts like the good old ladders in ace rimmer style!
or better Ace Rimmer will organize it! :D
or i will organize it with a helpful Ace Rimmer hand or others for the stats?
it will be possible for all to sign up. with different winners: - most won games winner
- best avg score winner
- fewest collateral
... and so one. for more fun and no fear of losing games!
old and new ideas welcome, but better not in this thread!

I don't want quit the tourney. I find it fun and with a good structure. I also found more time than I thought to play...but It's hard to find the players to end the group phase. My only fault is to have not time in the evenings (at least in this period) but damn..I'm here to live or die.
Anyway I hope Schub will change his idea to quit.

Lets start the knockout phase. In most cases it is clear who is through. Any arguments, then there can be a playoff...

Yep, just ditch people who haven't played and toss the rest in a random hat. Just make sure I get a good draw and not Ace as I was the best in group phase :P

My advice would be to make today the last day to get in a game and then pm all players that would advance asking them to respond with 'yes I will keep going' or 'no, to hell with you and your tourney!!!! ' :P

Then give the players a deadline to respond (e.g. 48 hours), allowing the next round to continue with those that do and possibly replacing any that don't with those that didn't advance (starting with the best).

If you can't get enough spots filled, ask for wildcard players (new sign-ups).

Well I want to continue. I am 3-2 (haven't posted one game), and I think Zorotama is also 3-2. I still need to play him one more time to complete my 6 matches.
