I have asked a few on the servers about an idea for a new tourney of sorts and they all seemed to be ok with it, so here goes...
How about a 'show' tourney where we pit players who have been around for a long time and are one of the best, not just good, they would need to be considered elite (for lack of a better term) versus everybody else. Sort of a Vet vs Noob. Now, the only objection I've received so far is the "well, the vets will Always win and crush others". This might happen, but I think there'd been some excellent games, and it would give players a chance to prove their skills and/or improve, perhaps even enough to join the elite.
This wouldn't be a long tourney and the non-vets would be expected to lose most of the time, so there'd be no pressure on them. However, as mentioned previously, they'd get an opportunity to try and really get better. In other words, how many video games have you played where you were stuck at a certain level and kept playing it till you finally beat it? This would be like the 'final boss' of Defcon for many players (baring any serious bot that ever gets finished).
Anybody willing to participate? If so, we would need some way to decide who would have Boss status, probably be best if it was voted on by a group of recognized and participating Boss players, I.e., (MOR), Nightwatch, rus|Mike, Senator, etc.
Say In if you would play as a regular, Boss if you think you're good enough to be considered best of the best. Note: some players can't play as regular (e.g. Nightwatch, rus|Mike).
POINT SYSTEM Works for 1v1 and 2v2, and even 3v3! It's challenger vs Boss/es, so as long as it's equal teams, it doesn't matter (all default settings).
