Corrupt guard

The game could have corrupt guards that help out prisoners by taking bribes, the prisoners could trade or pay the guards for contraband or could even help them escape at times...

It would be interesting for you to have a job make money and use it to bribe guards to keep your contraband, or go to stores and buy contraband or have it smuggled in for you by using the telphones or visitation

That's a really cool idea.
Maybe the guards should have more of a "shift schedule" like the 6am guards coming in have to themselves be searched from contraband as well before they can enter the prison...(more realistic I suppose)
