Ground Warfare?

Postby Th3xpl0iT » Sat May 22, 2010 7:30 pm

If you got water units, like fleets, what about ground units, like tanks, infantry, artillery, etc? Carriers can also carry tanks and infantry to move them into enemy territory!

It would really help out those who like re-enacting scenarios like WWII and things of that nature. I'm not sure if anyone has recommended this yet, but if it hasn't I thought it would be acceptable to say that this would be a neat idea.

How ingenious. And you're the first one to think about that. Yeah.

Which is why I said:

No need to be a hard-ass. Besides, if I'm clearly not the first to say this, why hasn't anyone tried it yet?

I'm not sure how ground warfare would work. Defcon is a high level strategic game, how can you fit tanks, artillery much less infantry (individual foot soldiers?) on the map without everything being out of scale and turning it into a distraction? It just wouldn't look right on the map.

Here is the problem. You have to squeeze in infantry, tanks, and artillery together to make an army. Usually, nations have like 5-10 army groups. And that is the problem because they are slower the subs and can be easily nuked upon. Also, you have to plan out how they are going to attack, what kind of troops should there be, and others. Plus, DEFCON's 5 and 4 timers have to be extended just for players to put in troops.

I like your idea and stuff and I hope the Introversion Staff takes it but there are going to be complications.

Dude. This topic is (a) old and (b) redundant. Why bump it? There isn't possibly anything that you could add to the topic of ground troops.
