I was thinking, (possibly this should be in the mod forum) that it would be cool if units would have a little Health/Hull bars displaying how many hits they can take.

Examle: You got 1 bomber left, you aproach a radar, however the SAMS have it targeted.
2 shots hit your bomber, (taking off 2 tiny pixels off of it) and you realize, if it's hit 1 more time, it's a goner.
You want to get closer to target, so to minimize nuke flight time, even though ur already in range.
You see an SAM rocket aproaching, and just as it hits the bomber, you deploy the nuke, itself having 3 or 4 lil (hull hp) pixels underneith it.


What do you think? Pretty much any unit can have it, it wouldn't take too much space, and it wouldn't debalance the game, infact,
it would become more strategic. Think about it. :wink:

P.S. If somone alse has thought of this & posted it, plz let me know.

Defcon is about RANDOM. Health bars will make taking decisions much easier which is bad.

Not to mention that kills are based on chance, not health, except for ground units.

Even with the ground units, it is random. A radar installation takes one hit, an airbase two hits, and a silo three hits; but the chance of a nuke hitting is random. Of course, the probability is 99% in favor of a hit (which means that misses are quite rare), but it does happen from time to time. It is really frustrating to see a nuke explode, but do no damage. ;)

well, I didn't know it was that random, I was thinking more usefull in dog fights & toughness of ships & bombers.

Anyway, I thought it was a good idea, But I don't know the code behind the game.

Speaking of which, is defcon open source?
