DEFCON for Xbox 360 (via Xbox Live Arcade).

Postby netsurfer_x1 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 6:57 am

Sorry for the shameless plug here folks, but I don't know how else to put this:

If there are any Xbox 360 fans here who would like to send a clear message to the Introversion Software folks that we want DEFCON for the 360, please follow the link below.

Petition for the release of DEFCON for Xbox 360 (via petitiononline).

Signed the petition but now I'm trying to figure out how the game control would work using the XBox controller.

Can't imagine being able to micromanage using a controller in the same way I can using mouse/keyboard

In one respect, the controller could even work better than mouse + keyboard. You have two analog sticks. One could be used to select the units, the other could move a second cursor for the target. That would make mass bombing attacks so much easier, at least for us genetically superior ambidextrous people :). Seeing IV seem to have found a way to use the XBox controller for Multiwinia (judging from the fact it has been announced to come to XBLA, can't say more, NDA) and are on a cuddling course with Microsoft in general (Darwinia for Vista), I'd say this request actually has chance. A very small one, and it's unlikely the petition itself will move anything (I'd say IV is perfectly aware of all porting opportunities already), but hey, better than this.

I suppose it's a personal preference, but without a keyboard, voice-chat would be the only option, so imagine what it would be like having to listen to me and MOR chattering non-stop while you're trying to spectate a game :P (of course you could always mute us  ).

I often use an Xbox 360 controller when playing on a PC using Xpadder. It actually works quite nicely. It's at least better than using keyboard + touchpad on my laptop. Of course, I grew up on console games, so I've always been more comfortable with a controller than a mouse.

As for no text messaging, that would be the suck. I hate voice chatting in games anyway, and I like being able to review conversations and have a record that wouldn't be present in a voice chat.

Ill mannered 8 yr old kids spouting racial slurs, homophobic obscenities, and other unnecessary language that 8 yr olds should not even know

also, PS3 would be awesome too.
