Defcon for Wii
I seriously think you should do a Wii version of Defcon. It would be a great app. for the Wii shopping channels Wii software section. Besides Defcon isn't graphically too demanding, it's small enough in size, the ui is just a perfect match and the online store is all ready available as well as online multiplay possibilities.
The only question that remains is: why not? well money might be an slight issue but the profits could be relatively huge.
Anyway, just a thought.

What ever xander, you already showed that it can be played on an iPod.

Xander, it runs on my computer which has 800mhz cpu, gforce1 and 128mb of ram. Do you honestly think it won't run on Wii you Xbox/PS fanboy?

The Wii.
CPU: 729MHz PPC-based. PPC means.. crap. That is why Apple moved away from it.
GPU: ATi. Possibly based on the codenamed "hollywood" chipset with about 243MHz worth of clock and a 24MB Graphics RAM. An extra 3MB is used for the texture memory and framebuffer. 128-bit connect. (No info on piplines or clockspeed has been released/confirmed by anyone, so all this is speculative)
RAM: 64MB
Your PC.
CPU: Intel based, 800MHz (correct me if I'm wrong).
GPU: GeForce 1 didn't exist, so I'm going to assume you mean the GF2. It has a clockspeed of 200MHz, 4 pixel pipelines.
RAM: 128MB RAM.
So your CPU is better, your GPU is about the same, and you've got more RAM (if slightly slower).
So, what were you saying, Wii fanboy?

- My name is spelt with a lowercase "x," not a capital "X."
- I do not have a Wii, PS3, XBox. I couldn't possible care less about any of them, certainly not enough to be considered a fanboy. So, honestly, there is no reason for you to be hurling insults. Though if that is the road you wish to go down, I can be more than accomodating.
- Your statement that Defcon is graphically simple is incorrect. That was all I said to you. I did not say that it couldn't run on the Wii. I did not say anything about any console. I merely corrected your assertion that it is graphically simple. That question has been addressed several times on these forums. The discussion can be easily searched for. Defcon is not graphically simple. It is a simple aesthetic, but, under the hood, it actually hits the hardware pretty hard. In fact, I am surprised by your assertion that it runs on a Geforce 1, given that the suggested specs indicate a Geforce 2, and, for that matter, I am not even sure that the Geforce 1 is even a real card.

My cpu is amd based, there is a gforce 1 (it just goes by the name ddr and it's just a piece of crap) and as you said, the wii specs are speculated and the ones listed by you resemble a lot the gamecube specs that have been shown around as wii specs. Nintendo has stated that the wii is approx double as powerful as the gc. The Wii fanboy comment might be partially true.

Ok, still, it's x86 based. PPC is a different arch, and a terrible one at speed.
Dragnor wrote:there is a gforce 1 (it just goes by the name ddr and its a just a piece of crap) and as you said
No, really, there is not a GeForce 1. nVidia's naming scheme goes from GeForce 256 to GeForce 2. Go find me a GeForce 1 on that page if you don't believe me.

Funny, that. The Gamecube runs at a known 485MHz. 50% faster on the PPC arch, in total theory, would hit about 730MHz (overhead included). Surprisingly the chip inside the Wii (I've taken one apart myself) has this line: "BWYC-729.14". Kinda matches the suggested spec, eh? I do hate it when some companies won't release specs.

Good enough for me.
tllotpfkamvpe wrote:the only reason for defcon to be graphically "intensive" is because of the bad programming, same for the poor network lag.
Bad performance would mean bad network lag. However, neither implies bad programming. (As is always the case, if you think you can do better...)

I didn't mean that defcon is graphically simple, all I meant was that Defcon is graphically simple enough to run on the Wii (personally I think it looks awesome). Coming from that point of view I miss interperated your comment as fanboyish slandering of the Wii and I appologise for that as well as miss spelling your name. Putting that aside, Defcon is graphically pretty simple compared to games like crysis or asassins creed so it is just a question of perspective.
