Satellites/ Reveal Map

Postby djtech1982 » Mon Sep 03, 2007 8:20 am

Hey, i know this topic has kinda been dealt with in the past, but i haven't understood the status of this.

Since this game is based upon WarGames, which in turn is based upon the height of the cold war, I was thinking... both sides the Soviets and the Americans knew the locations of all the other side's silos, radar stations, bomber bases, etc. I was thinking that there should be an option to reveal the map to both sides. I guess this sorta defeats the purpose of the game... to use strategy in defeating the enemy, but I think it would be good to have the ability (whether cheat code or whatever) so full scale strikes are possible... hitting all bases, silos, and cities at once.... or within a few minutes... like the WarGames movie portrays and is the strategy of a first full scale strike.

Some of us play this game when we are bored.... and just want the mindless, senseless violence....

In DedCon servers, this is sort of possible, just use this config sniplet:

Code: Select all

RadarSharing 3
WaitDefcon 3
RadarSharing 0
This will enable radar sharing until defcon 3 hits, and all installations (and, as a probably unwanted, but unavoidable, side effect, all surface navy placements) are revealed to everyone.

I was pretty sure that you could simply set RADAR sharing options to All in the server advanced options. (it says something about being suitable for beginners in the description.)

You can. Bert's post works so that radar sharing is turned off at defcon 3, so that you know where the other players buildings are but not what they and the navy are doing.

However, if you want to see what the other guy is doing for the whole game, then just turn radar sharing on.

And of course, a plain old game of diplomacy (or manually putting everyone into the same alliance) with a gentlemen agreement on not quitting the alliance before the installations are placed works just as well.

Ah, thank you for directing me to the advanced options. I didn't realize it. I guess I have to buy the game now since it has those options. thanks again.

A quite rare occurance unless you manage to get enough forum members together in one place.

The newest, of course. 0.9.1. It works with everything higher than 0.6, though.
