I'm So Proud Of This Idea...not as much anymore.

Ok...no one wants ground units...it's widely known :D and i haven't read all the think tank or mod project threads because i have literally 2 minutes before getting to work but im fairly confident this is a unique enough idea to not have been thought of before.

Evacuation Of Civilians Animation:

All cities...when either silos have been destroyed or there are incoming nukes show little dots...as many as can be shown so as to be individual (best at max zoom), exiting the City (block shape) at all angles, not for a far distance but surely this can be simulated quite simply? although i'm not sure if code may need to be written or it being possible as a mod but i thought it was a very neat and amusing idea :D

Perhaps a better idea would be to show (when zoomed all the way in, and after the first "launch detected") mass numbers of little Darwinians "evacuating" major population centers in a random, uncontrolled, and meaningless manner that does not effect the game other than give you something to laugh at in the face of global thermonuclear war?

I.e., mere visual effects.

That would be fricking hillarious to see!

I vote for doing it.

Do it.

Oooh if we're just talking about visual then I suggest a graphicsscreen. A little box that can be brought up or disabled on command that shows a little animation of a city getting nuked every time a nuke kills more than 8 million people :D (relatively big city)

Nice idea :) and i was thinking only as something for visual humour however i was thinking last night further more that an extra option be added to the game (Countdown), so that once you destroy an opponents silos their city populations slowly start to decrease in population (as theyre evacuated) forcing you to move quickly :) but blah, i usually don't add to to the thinking/modding sections of the forums because 90% of these threads are imagination and not practical or never will be  *back to the general forums for me*

I think a 'civilian evacuation" or perhaps "ordering citizenry into shelters" options would have merit, in some way.... it would be interesting to have some sort of tally of destruction that helped to contribute to score.. right now it's soley based on population deaths.... in 'THE MOVIE", there is one scene where WOPR projects the damage from the russian strike that is sumulated against the united states... "food stockpiles" and "hospitals" were included, along with "population deaths" and "non-fatal casualties".

It's the scene where David has been arrested but is still in NORAD (yes, hollywood at it's best, but we overlook it) and he is left in a regular everyday office with nothing but a secretary in the other room watching.... he gets access to a terminal and has one last brief dicussion with Joshua (where the famous lines "is this a game or is it real?" is answered with "what's the difference?")

perhaps a different version of defcon, or maybe a mode of play could be included in a patch, where these things were implimented..... to further make scoring and game play interesting but without bogging down the game play itself in small, tactical level or micromanagement mechanics.
